Why did the police pressurize people to press charges ?

This to me bears some ways reminds me of how things where when I was a teenager.
When gay men lived in fear of the police and where often abused by them in many different ways.
One of the major difficulties in gaining equality was always how to Handel the Law enforcement side of things as. As a a 18 year old gay young man with the situation just DE-criminalized yet my self still being illegal meeting with police officers and demanding the right to have a gay disco in a local pub was both scary and a thrill sitting in a meeting room not knowing if you where going to be arrested or if they would behave properly and discuss the matter like sensible servants of the people was all ways a risk.

My partner who died back in 1999 due to his alcoholism was a case of a teenager who was forced by the police to prosecute the man, he saw as saving him from a destructive adopted situation that he felt trapped in.
He all was said he knew he was the illegitimate child of a police man and believed that this was the reason that his life was screwed up by the police. He spent most of his early adult years in the carer of the home office. The life he had resulted in his death at the age of 40 some thing that I have mourned over now for 15 years I still miss him and wonder what might have been had we had the time to have our relationship solemnized by the action of being married some think he always dreamed off .
I find my self in the case of Nigel Evans though I reject his politics, fully behind his struggle to clear his name and shocked at what appears to be the polices activity. I do however recognize it as part of the overall lurch towards the right and the oppressive, totalitarian, fascist, homophobic, religious bigoted, attitudes that are sweeping across the globe. As to if this is the result of the pressures of global warming, economic inequality and instability, food pressures, diminishing resources or the collapse of capitalism. I am really not sure or is that the right has the capitalist system in its hand and there for is manipulating the situation to archive its own goals and bring about world domination.

What ever it is the fact that to hear Cathy Newman on Channel 4 news repeatedly trying to make an issue that Nigel Evans had sex with a man 30 years his junior was to say the least pretty sickening and outrageous as if having a relationship with some one 30 years younger than you is a crime.
We all I think understand that as a teacher you can not even have a relationship with some one who is even the same age as you and that if some one who is in a position of authority and responsibility over you could be seen as abusive. Though if the parties are adults it is a difficult call to say who may be the true abuser in the situation. How ever the working situation is a situation that we assume if you are at work then you are in effect a responsible adult able to either agree to or decline a relationship from a position of reasonable equality. The current situation means that you can be a child at college and an adult at your place of work. This is a paradox of social schizophrenia that is I believe allowing the bigots to exploit us all. From my point of view it was for me more sensible as I experienced being an adult from 18 onwards left school an in to work fighting in Trade union, being a hippy, In Gay Liberation, protesting the Vietnam war. Much the same as William Hague was accepted by the Tory party conference as an Adult at age 17 when he gave his first major speech about the same age as the 30 years younger man that Nigel Evans was being accused of having sex with by Cathy Newman. It makes me wonder what sexual abuse or inappropriate behavior he may have experienced and what his view might be about sexual harassment and how he dealt with it in the party as a youth?
