I was watching gay pride on the TV. I have given up going to the thing it just drives me crazy since it went all capitalist and main stream. The political main stream speach`s by the conservative party and the labour party did not meet with a great deal of support.

Then I am not a great fan of any political parties Green party is the most suitable as rule by consensus is the only true human way of interaction, none of the others do the consensus thing as they all practice the largest minority rule system of democracy otherwise known as government by bullying.

The state like the church should have no governance over the personal lives and interactions of the individual. Unless we accept the general tenant that the personal is political which when I was on the gay lib office collective in the 1969/70 years and I was still of that frame of mind when I chaired the gay pride committee here in London in 1980 the last year it was truly political and still organised through local groups from all round London when the committee was known as the co-ordinating committee and local groups did local things like gay Art exhibitions, poetry reading, book signing, film festivals and the march and festival was the culmination of the week and the stalls where split between the commercial and the local community groups. This made it a truly social community event in a way that it has not been since. What you do for work, how you live your life, how you dress, what spiritual path you follow who you socialise with It all  is defining you and your political persuasion. Your political support has to reflect that and be in tune with what you believe should be the way life is governed as the idea of politics is that the government should reflect the society it serves

As a man in his late 50`s living here in London the isolation of being a gay older man is kicking in for me further increased by the isolation of being the main care giver for me elderly in-firmed parents who live 36 miles out of the city.  With little and often no time for any personal life of my own makes me aware of the lack of gay community all the help and support I get ccomes from my straight friends.

There where some groups doing alternative things that I would  have liked to get involved with but late informationand just being to tired, saw me spending gay pride day in London in the sun shine clearing up my garden and planting out some new flowering plants . True rainbow work and to be honest I don’t think I really missed any thing as there is not much there that is of any interest to me but then if I am trulyy honest there is not much in the gay community in London that is of much interest to me.   The gay community in London don`t do poor old and retired, we don`t have enough pink pounds to spend anwe don`t like banging disco music. Being on the gay scene at 50+ can make you  feel that life is not worth living so I don`t do the scene  bbecause I know it is worth living. I don`t get much of a sex life and most of my gay friends are now dead  including my long term partner.

llife is good and most of it a joy if a little lonely some times.
